Darien, Ga., August 12, 2026 – PermaCold Logistics today announced the official grand opening of its new cold storage and logistics facility in Darien, Georgia, marking a major milestone for the company and adding significant temperature-controlled storage capacity to the region.
Located at 12631 GA Highway 251 in Darien, the new facility encompasses 216,000 square feet and provides 30,000 pallet positions, with the ability to expand capacity by an additional 10,000 pallet positions. The facility is designed to support the evolving needs of food producers, distributors, importers, exporters, retailers, and other businesses that depend on a reliable cold chain.
The grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 12 at 10:30 a.m., bringing together PermaCold Logistics leadership, community representatives, industry partners, and others who helped bring the project to life.
“This facility represents exactly what we want PermaCold Logistics to deliver for our customers: reliability, flexibility, efficiency, and a team that understands their business,” said Mark Schultz, Vice President of Business Development for PermaCold Logistics. “Darien gives us an outstanding location to support companies moving temperature-sensitive products throughout the Southeast and through Georgia’s ports. More importantly, we have built an operation that can adapt to what our customers need today and as their businesses grow.”
The advanced facility maintains temperatures ranging from 40°F to -10°F and features a 50-foot clear height, allowing PermaCold Logistics to accommodate a wide range of refrigerated and frozen products. Its blast-freezing operation incorporates QFM technology and is designed with the capacity to blast freeze up to 600,000 pounds of product per day.
PermaCold Logistics provides customers with a comprehensive range of cold-chain solutions from the Darien location, including refrigerated and frozen storage, blast freezing, layering and case picking, inventory services, domestic transportation, import and export support, and additional value-added services.
The facility’s location provides another important advantage.
Positioned approximately five minutes from Interstate 95 and less than an hour from the Port of Savannah, the Darien operation gives customers convenient access to one of the Southeast’s most important transportation and logistics corridors. The location also strengthens PermaCold’s ability to support refrigerated imports and exports moving through Georgia while connecting customers with major markets throughout the Southeast.
The new operation is expected to support approximately 50 jobs in McIntosh County
PermaCold Logistics was created around a straightforward approach to third-party logistics. Each customer relationship is built around individual operational requirements, allowing PermaCold to provide flexible solutions rather than forcing customers into a one-size-fits-all model.
That approach extends throughout the company’s operations. PermaCold prioritizes fast truck turn times, seamless scheduling, accurate inventory management, reliable product access, and responsive service. Its leadership team brings decades of experience in cold storage, distribution, facility startups, logistics, and operational improvement.
The Darien facility also represents an important investment in Georgia’s growing refrigerated supply chain. Its proximity to major transportation infrastructure and Georgia’s ports positions PermaCold to support the movement of products ranging from proteins and seafood to food and beverage products and other temperature-sensitive goods.
The facility was constructed by Ti Cold and developed in partnership with Karis Cold at Tidewater Industrial Park. The project brought together private-sector partners along with state and local organizations to expand cold-storage infrastructure and create new economic opportunities in McIntosh County.
With the opening of the Darien facility, PermaCold Logistics is focused on building long-term customer relationships and delivering the consistent, adaptable service needed in a rapidly changing supply chain.
PermaCold’s philosophy is simple – customers should have confidence that their products are being handled carefully, stored under the right conditions, and available when they need them.
The Darien facility is now positioned to put that philosophy into action.
